Concrete & Asphalt Removal Across Salt Lake County
Old concrete driveways, sidewalks, patios, and retaining walls crack, heave, settle, and eventually become both an eyesore and a liability. Whether you're replacing worn concrete with a new installation, converting a concrete area to landscape, or simply clearing space for a project, Lundberg Landscape removes concrete and asphalt quickly and cleanly.
We break up, load, and haul away all concrete and asphalt debris. The site is left level and ready for whatever comes next — new concrete, pavers, rock, turf, or just bare ground. We work efficiently and avoid damage to surrounding landscaping, structures, and utility lines.

The Concrete Removal Process
Utility Locate First
Before any concrete is broken, we call 811 (Utah's utility locating service) to mark buried lines. Gas, water, electrical, and communication lines run under many driveways and patios. We don't break concrete without knowing what's underneath.
Saw-Cut & Break
We saw-cut large slabs into manageable sections before breaking — this reduces the force required and prevents cracking that extends beyond the intended removal area. Concrete is then broken with electric jackhammers or a mini-excavator, depending on thickness and reinforcement.
Load & Haul
All broken concrete is loaded into a dump trailer and hauled to a concrete recycling facility. Concrete is one of the most recyclable construction materials — it's ground into aggregate and reused in new road base and construction projects. We don't leave debris on-site.
Grade the Site
After concrete is removed, the subbase is often uneven and contaminated with old aggregate or base material. We grade the exposed area flat or to a specified slope, leaving it ready for the next installation without additional site prep.
Rebar Removal
Reinforced concrete contains steel rebar that must be cut and removed separately from the concrete aggregate. We handle rebar cutting and disposal as part of the removal — it's not an add-on charge.
Site Ready for Next Phase
Whether you're pouring new concrete, laying pavers, installing rock, or planting — the site is left level, clean, and ready. If Lundberg Landscape is handling the next phase as well, we sequence the work with no downtime between phases.
Concrete Removal Pricing in Utah
Cost depends on slab thickness, reinforcement (plain vs. rebar), total square footage, and site access. Thicker or heavily reinforced slabs take more equipment time and haul-away. We provide free, itemized quotes and don't start work without a signed estimate at the agreed price.
If you're having a landscape installation done after removal, ask about combined pricing — bundling phases is almost always more efficient than scheduling them separately. Call or text for a free quote.
Does Concrete Removal Require a Permit in Utah?
In most Salt Lake County cities, removing an existing concrete driveway or patio does not require a permit. However, if the removal is connected to a change in driveway approach (where the driveway connects to the public road), a right-of-way permit may be required from the city.
If you're removing a driveway approach, we advise checking with your city before scheduling work. Sandy, Draper, South Jordan, and most SLC suburbs have straightforward permit processes for driveway approach modifications. We can tell you from experience what each municipality typically requires.
